Decidedly Feminine
Mehera Shaw is a fashion house specializing in fine cottons and artisan-crafted, hand block prints from the Jaipur region of Rajasthan, India. Our designer, Shari Keller, creates decidedly feminine clothing for the woman who loves beauty, color, and a bit of Indian spice. Our styles range from sophisticated casual wear to East/West fusion ensembles, incorporating many traditional printing and stitching techniques.
Mehera Shaw is committed to ecological and fair made standards of production. We are also committed to a feminine ideal of beauty and enduring style. In our mind, these goals are all intertwined, as we believe that ethical fashion should naturally reflect that timeless quality called, in India, “Shakti”, the “Universal Feminine.” To that end, we insist that our clothes be practical, comfortable, and unapologetically beautiful.
Many of our collections incorporate “green cotton”, i.e., cotton that is grown using fewer chemicals and processed without the use of bleach or other toxic chemicals. This fabric is colored with earth friendly vegetable dyes, or with dyes that have minimal environmental impact.
We have also developed a stock of organically grown cotton — strictly hand spun, hand-loomed fabrics (known as “Khadi”) — which will be appearing in our collections soon. It is our hope and intention to continue building on our relationships with the farmers who produce these cottons, and the village spinners and loomers who turn them into cloth.
